TRAIN WITH PURPOSE.
At Dog Pound Barbell Club, we believe strength is earned through discipline, consistency, and a willingness to do the work. Our mission is to help people build resilient bodies and resilient minds through intelligent strength training that lasts a lifetime.
Drawing from Westside-inspired methods, movement restoration, and breathing mechanics, we develop athletes and everyday lifters who move well, perform at a high level, and stay healthy for years to come. Whether your goal is to get stronger, overcome pain, improve athletic performance, or simply become the best version of yourself, we're here to provide the tools, coaching, and community to help you get there.
This is more than a gym. It's a brotherhood built on hard work, humility, and the pursuit of excellence.
Meet Josh
Dog Pound Barbell Club was founded by Josh with one simple belief: strength training should build you up—not break you down.
As a Combat Engineer in the Canadian Armed Forces, Josh understands firsthand that strength isn't just about lifting heavy—it's about being capable, resilient, and prepared for whatever life demands. That mindset has shaped the way he trains and coaches today.
Drawing from years of experience in strength training, Westside-inspired methods, movement restoration, and breathing mechanics, Josh helps people build real-world strength while improving the way they move, recover, and perform. His programs are designed to create athletes and everyday lifters who are not only stronger in the gym but more capable in every aspect of life.
Outside the gym, Josh is a devoted husband and proud father. Those roles have reinforced his belief that true strength isn't measured by numbers on the bar—it's measured by the discipline you carry, the example you set, and your ability to show up consistently for the people who depend on you.
Whether you're stepping into the gym for the first time, preparing for military or first responder service, chasing new personal records, or simply looking to become the strongest version of yourself, Josh's mission is to help you build strength that lasts.
